Why do some bowling centers not oil thier lanes on the weekends?
A local center near me started this policy, The lanes get so dry that the ball takes off, and you can't bowl a good game. Don't they realize eventually that people are not stupid and will not throw their money away?

They probably think that since leagues play on week nights, and the recreational bowlers and kids are on weekends, people won't care. I experienced the same thing a couple of times, I couldn't control the ball at all. They're trying to save money at the customer's expense, not right.

Why are there not ANY 5 pin bowling centers in the US?
you would think opening up a small one here or there, especially in large cities, there would be enough demand to sustain given the number of Canadians migrating to the US as well as bowling enthusiasts originally from America such as myself.
I went this past week for the first time in 15 years since I moved to the South and loved it.

there are not any 5 pin bowling centers because there isn't a high demand for them. Most of the demand is for 10 pin bowling centers. SUpply is fueled by demand so if not alot of people want it no one is going to create it. I say create your own 5 pin bowling center and be the first in your community. That would be pretty fun eh?

Start with what interests you the most.
Management is management. You supervised people, you met payroll, you handled customer service, you did troubleshooting for building maintenance issues, you scheduled inventory of various things....
Your skills would be valuable to any industry. Pick one you want to work in. Or open your own business.
Don't look for someone else to tell you what you want to do. That's how you probably spent the last seven years. Now you're free to put what you learned to use in something you want to do. If that's manage another bowling center, good for you, but it doesn't have to be.
Your limitations are whatever you decide them to be.
Is there any 5-pin bowling centers in Windsor, Ontario, Canada?
I went 5-pin bowling in Windsor about 6 or 7 years ago and it was great times... I'd like to plan another outing- just wondering if anyone knows the name of any 5-pin bowling lanes in the Windsor area (willing to drive a half hour or so from the tunnel if there aren't any in Windsor itself).

How would I buy a bowling center?
I've been in the bowling business for about 7 years now and I think I'd like to buy a center myself. What would be the best way of going about it. Also, if I wanted to buy the center off my boss what would be the best way of presenting that to him? Thanks!

The first thing you need to do is come up with a comprehensive business plan. This will include income projections, market analysis, through-traffic projections, alternative income centers, etc. Analyze everything down to the last tater tot in the fryer and last quarter in the crane machine. Come up with a marketing strategy. Do you want to cater to the hard drinking, hard smoking bowler, or do you want to have a "family friendly" joint and drive those people away? Your dream, your formulation. Factor in costs for improvement to draw new customers that wouldn't have previously come to the center. You need to have estimates from contractors on necessary work and intimate detail of the center you wish to buy.
Take all this junk to several banks. Secure financing. Start making offers.
Dude, this is how everything is done, not just in the bowling business.
If all that fails, just marry the owner.
